This course will introduce students to that other world of self – the unconscious. They will look at the way the unconscious interacts with the conscious self and at the way it expresses itself through dreams. From the first lesson, students will begin working with dream elements, dream motifs, characters and symbols, and the exploration of the dream itself from a Jungian point of view. This approach accepts that symbols and dream elements do have a commonality in all human beings, but that in analyzing the dream, we treat the symbol as very personal, as if it is a tool used by the unconscious part of the psyche to express its own uniqueness. By the end of the course, students will be able to explore their dreams and begin to understand the language of their souls – the beginning of a journey to self that will be a lifelong exploration.
